Cookie Cabinets are real. And this Christmas, Santa picked our little family farm in Towanda, Illinois, to be home to the very first one.
Read Santa's letterIt arrived one chilly morning
One morning there was an envelope in the Eggloo, tucked between the honey jars. No stamp. A little frost on the corner. And a very unusual request.
Of all the farms and shops and bakeries in all the world, Santa asked us to keep his very first real Cookie Cabinet. Maybe it's because this farm was started by kids. Maybe it's the honey. He didn't say. (He rarely does.)

Dear friends at ABC Farms,
I have been watching your little farm for a long time. The coop, the bees, the stand by the road. Every cookie set out with care.
I need somewhere to keep my very first Cookie Cabinet. Somewhere children are noticed. I think it should be with you.
–Santa
P.S. Please keep the bell polished.
Cabinet No. 1
Santa's Cabinet sits inside our farmstand, with its little drawers, a brass bell, and a lamp that isn't lit. The key to it? Wren's Cookie Kit, straight from the book: a tin bird cookie cutter just like Wren's and our cookie mix, so your kids can bake their very own cookie for Santa. Order one, bring the kids along when you pick it up, and let them ring the bell. Their names might already be waiting.
Your kit unlocks the Cabinet. Kits come in a few sizes, depending on how many little ones are coming. Choose a pickup time and tell us each child's name so Santa knows who to expect.
Come out to the farm at your pickup time and step inside the farmstand. The Cabinet is waiting there.
The little lamp glows, names begin to appear, and each child finds a drawer with a note from Santa.

No. Like all Cookie Cabinets, ours appears each Christmas season. If you're reading this in the off-season, check back in the fall. Santa is busy getting the drawers ready.
Yes. The Cabinet opens for families who order Wren's Cookie Kit ahead of time. Pick the kit size that fits your crew, and each child named on your order gets their own drawer, ready before you arrive.
About ten minutes at the Cabinet, inside our farmstand. Just enough time for each child to ring the bell, find their name, and open their drawer.
We wish we could tell you! We never saw him. He only left that note, and it didn't say why. Our best guess: this farm was started by three kids, and Santa has always had a soft spot for kids who make things with their own two hands.
Santa's Cookie Cabinet is published by ABC Farms Co., the same family farm Santa chose for Cabinet No. 1.
